According to SASSA’s announcement, the payment schedule for October 2025 is as follows:
- Old Age Grant: Thursday, October 2, 2025
- Disability Grant: Friday, October 3, 2025
- All Other Grants (including Child Support Grant): Monday, October 6, 2025

SASSA advises beneficiaries to avoid rushing to collection points on the first day of payment. Funds will remain available in accounts until they are needed, allowing beneficiaries to withdraw their grants at their convenience.

Enhancements in Grant Application Process

SASSA’s CEO, Themba Matlou, stated that the biometric system would make processes more secure, transparent, and trustworthy. The agency has completed staff training and infrastructure rollout to ensure smooth implementation.
Grant Increases in April 2025
In April 2025, several social grants saw an increase to adjust for higher living costs. The increases were as follows:
- Old Age Grant: Increased from R2,185 to R2,315
- Disability Grant: Increased from R2,185 to R2,315
- Child Support Grant: Increased from R530 to R560
These adjustments reflect the government’s commitment to addressing poverty and inequality while keeping spending sustainable.
