The government has announced the RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme for 2025, aimed at helping Malaysians manage the rising cost of everyday essentials. This initiative provides direct financial support to citizens by crediting RM100 straight into their MyKad, which can then be used at participating shops nationwide.
When Does the Aid Start?
Although the balance is already visible in the official checking system, the money can only be used from 31 August 2025. The programme will run until 31 December 2025, giving citizens four months to spend the amount. Any unused balance after this date will automatically expire.
Who Is Eligible?
Unlike other aid programmes, Malaysians do not need to apply. All citizens aged 18 and above will automatically receive the credit once their MyKad is verified in the system. Eligibility is confirmed through the official SARA website citizens simply need to key in their identity card number to check if their RM100 has been credited.
How to Claim and Spend
There is no claim process involved since the aid is credited directly to MyKad. To use it, cardholders just need to shop at registered outlets that display the MyKasih logo. The amount will be deducted at the counter when purchasing approved items.
What Can Be Bought?
To ensure the aid benefits households, spending is restricted to 14 categories of essential goods, such as:
- Rice, flour, eggs, and cooking oil
- Bread, biscuits, and instant noodles
- Canned food and drinks
- Basic seasonings
- Medicine and school supplies
- Personal care and cleaning products
This focus on necessities prevents misuse while ensuring families get the support they need.
Where Can It Be Used?
Over 4,000 retailers nationwide are part of the SARA programme, including major supermarket chains like Mydin, Lotus’s, Econsave, and 99 Speedmart, along with smaller community shops. This wide network ensures accessibility even for those living in rural areas.
Why It Matters
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that the scheme is designed to provide fast, fair, and practical support. By using MyKad as the delivery method, the government avoids complicated registration processes, making the system more efficient for everyone.
Final Word
The RM100 SARA Aid 2025 is a simple yet impactful initiative that will help millions of Malaysians manage daily expenses. By focusing on essential goods and ensuring automatic distribution through MyKad, the government is making sure that the assistance reaches those who need it most without extra hassle.
